About Employment Central

Employment Central has been in operation since September 4, 2001 in Suite 202 - 204 Black Street in Whitehorse, Yukon. The operation provides job search assistance to Yukoners by providing:
  • a resource area with computer (internet) fax, phone, job postings;

  • resume assistance and interview practice;

  • employment counselling; and

  • workshops (click here for a calendar of upcoming workshops).

Knowledgeable and friendly staff provides assistance to our clients at Employment Central (EC) by advising them of the services, and assisting them on the computers.

There are employment counsellors who will work with you to assess your employment needs and together you will develop a plan of action to assist you in finding employment. They can refer you to workshops or other employment services in the Whitehorse area.

In a survey conducted under the auspices of Yukon Government Department of Advance Education, "Labour Market Gaps Survey Research Report", one of the clients who has used our services is quoted as saying:

“I have been helped and supported by all E.C. staff. I find this a pleasant place to look for jobs. Staff is attentive and helpful to everyone’s needs. My questions are all answered respectfully. Information is given to me in a friendly, professional manner. I notice everyone is treated as an equal, with dignity and respect."

Just in the last year Employment Central has served over 2,000 job seekers. Employment Central is fully funded by Service Canada.
