Job Title: Senior Accountant

Position Summary: The Senior Accountant is responsible for applying International Financial Reporting Standards and procedures to analyze financial information. The work requires the preparation of accurate and complete financial reporting for Management review. The Accountant is required to work with Management and employees of all departments to ensure appropriate accounting control procedures are followed.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
· Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly, quarterly and annual accounts
· Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
· Make certain all financial reporting deadlines are met
· Prepare financial Management reports
· Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures
· Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
· Continuous Management and support of budget and forecast activities
· Monitor and support taxation requirements
· Develop and maintain financial databases
· Liaise with external Auditors
· Oversee accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
· Evaluate and advise on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments and future revenues
· Collect and analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
· Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and integrity of financial data
· Oversee AP/AR and Inventory
· Project and cash flow analysis for Site and Corporate Management
· Practice and promote company environmental, health, safety and operational policies and procedures;
· Maintain a valid driver's license always; and
· Other duties as may be assigned by your supervisors from time to time as required.

The Ideal Candidate:
Academic/Education Requirements:
· Accounting degree or equivalent is preferred.
· Professional accounting designation required.
· Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
· Knowledge of open pit and underground mining preferred.
· Knowledge of Canadian Auditing Standards.
· Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations.
· Knowledge and experience of accounting computer applications.
· A minimum of 5 years' experience in the management of financial systems and budgets, financial reporting, financial data analysis, auditing, taxation and providing financial advice.
Candidates must be flexible with their schedule and able to cover month-end and quarter-end reporting requirements. Prolonged periods of time at a desk working at a computer will be required. There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including snow, mud, ice and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and occasionally physically handling/lifting/moving moderately heavy objects.
