Job Title: General Garden Manager & Educator                          CLOSING DATE: May 5 / 2017
DEPARTMENT: Heritage, Lands & Natural Resources
STATUS: Full Time - Term
SALARY: C/TFN Wage Scale Level 9 -11 depending on education and experience

JOB SUMMARY

C/TFN is seeking a seasoned and dynamic leader to direct daily operations at the Chooutla
Gardens Site. The Manager will design and implement innovative systems to maximize production of
annual vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers, honey bees, chickens, pigs and other products. The Manager also directs the design and maintenance of irrigation systems, and manages the upkeep of
all equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum three full seasons of vegetable growing and Permaculture
· Horticultural Supervisory experience
· Knowledge and experience in Bee Keeping
· Knowledge and experience in Animal Husbandry
· 4H Qualified Teacher and General Teaching Experience
· Familiarity with tractors, irrigation, cover cropping, and pest management using organic methods
· Knowledge of the use and service requirements of tractors, plows, discs, cultivators, and other farm equipment and implements
· Experience in greenhouse production of vegetable starts for transplant and sale, Crop planning and CSA production
· Record keeping and using Microsoft Excel
· Food Security production and management experience
· Experience constructing and growing in a hop house/high tunnel
· Volunteer coordination
· Machine maintenance
· Experience working in a non-profit environment
· Experience planning and managing small building/construction project

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
· Driver's license
· Criminal Record Check and Clearance level 4
· Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Reliable communication via internet and phone
· Passion for the sustainable agriculture movement
· Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to address various issues with staff, volunteers and community members in a diplomatic and respectful manner
· Ability and enthusiasm for education beginning growers, interns, and volunteers
· Strong leadership skills and ability to inspire others to do high quality work

An eligibility list will be established from this competition. No compensation will be given for moving costs and must be eligible to work in Canada.
