Position:          School-Age Cultural Educator
Department:    Education and Social Development
Term:               Full Time Term until March 31, 2022
Start:               ASAP

Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN), Education and Social Development Department is seeking a School-Aged Cultural Educator. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, delivering, and implementing culturally appropriate learning experiences and assisting with experiential cultural activities and land-based learning opportunities within the scope of school age education. This includes KDFN school age students, their families, select Yukon public schools and with a variety of service providers.

We are seeking an energetic individual who has strong cultural connections, is confident and engaging. You will have a passion for sharing, explaining and teaching our ways, and through this, contributing to reconciliation. Spiritual, mental, emotional and physical wellness are essential. You will be patient and kind. If you are passionate about enhancing the cultural awareness and appreciation in all aspects of educational program various learning environments including Yukon schools with KDFN children, youth and families, and have good interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to form positive and effective relationships, please consider this opportunity.

Qualifications:
· Degree in Education, Indigenous Studies, First Nation Language or equivalent and has considerable experience working in a First Nations' School-Age Education setting, or in a First Nations' cultural capacity delivering programming;
· Knowledge of and experience implementing strategies to support First Nation learning success at the elementary or high school levels;
· Strong knowledge of and experience sharing / teaching culture (or language), and in incorporating First Nation ways of learning, knowing, doing and being to compliment modern ways life;
· Experience developing learning materials and contributing to curriculum development;
· Experience with planning and coordinating projects and events;
· Experience facilitating presentations and workshops;
· Experienced financial management, including ensuring policy compliance and adherence to funding requirements, budget monitoring and reporting;
· First Nation language fluency or working to develop language fluency would be an asset

Knowledge of Kwanlin Dün First Nation community, culture, history, demographics, goals and aspirations, language and traditions are essential for success. A knowledge of Yukon Aboriginal Peoples history with formalized education systems, residential school and on-going inter-generational effects specific to education and social programming is required.

Note: An equivalent combination of acceptable education and coursework and considerable experience in the areas identified above will be considered. This is not a training or developmental opportunity.

Conditions of Employment: Class 5 driver's license and personal transportation; an acceptable criminal record check with vulnerable sector search is required prior to employment commencing; Standard First Aid & CPR is an asset.

Salary:                $76,531.00 to $98,428.91 (Level 7) plus benefits*

*KDFN has a generous employer paid benefits package that commences after 3 months of continued employment. Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 7 hours per day (1820 hours per year).
