Job Description:
• Conduct compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping and tax engagements.
• Plan, prepare and execute financial statement audits, reviews and compilations with appropriate note disclosures according to the standards.
• Collaborate with client engagement team prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities, risk areas, materiality and deadlines.
• Raise identified technical issues with manager or engagement partner.
• Investigate and correct discrepancies in financial transactions, documents and reports.
• Build effective working relationships with client contacts, and respond effectively to client requests and suggestions related to engagement.
• Update manager or engagement partner on the progress of engagements.
• Prepare professional correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining findings, facts and highlights resulting from the client engagement.
• Set-up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses.
• Work with accounting software and provide support to clients.
• Provide advice and training to other team members.
• Other duties to be performed as required.

Requirements/Qualifications:
• A minimum of three years' experience in public practice accounting including compilation, review, audit, corporate and personal tax preparation experience.
• Completion of post-secondary diploma or certificate in Accounting or Business. It is ideal that the senior accountant will have CPA designation or be close to designation with 3+ years of relevant work experience.
• This role will require the ability to work extra hours from time-to-time per business requirements.
• Knowledge of and experience working with Canadian GAAP, audit and review standards is an advantage.
• Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge and experience in CaseWare, Caseview, bookkeeping software such as QuickBooks and Sage (Simply), and Tax Software is an asset.
• Highly detail-oriented and organized.
• Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines.
• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees and clients.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills in both numbers and concepts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills with a talent to develop positive rapport and convey concepts and services to clients.
• Willing to travel to clients' sites and have valid driver's license.
