Position: Child & Family Liaison Worker – 1 position
Department: Justice
Term: Full Time Permanent

Kwanlin Dün First Nation is seeking a qualified Child & Family Liaison Worker. Under the supervision of the Manager, Child and Family Support Services, and in accordance with legislation and policy, the successful candidate will be providing support and advocacy services to children and families of Kwanlin Dün First Nation, including case management, formulation and implementation of family service plans, child and family advocacy, preparing members and documents for court.
We are seeking individuals with strong work ethic who demonstrate initiative and have a passion and desire to work in a position providing family support and advocacy. The ability to establish and maintain trust and trust based relationships, including professional boundaries is crucial for success in this role.

Qualifications:
· Diploma in Social Work, Child & Youth Care or equivalent.
· Significant recent experience in child/youth or family case management, and family group conferencing;
· Significant recent experience supporting children under the Director's care (i.e.: Ministry of a Province, Director in a Territory) and supporting family & children in the child welfare system;
· Considerable current experience with mediation and conflict resolution;
· Successful experience working within the parameters of child welfare legislation, policies, practice and administration as it relates to child protection matters.

Knowledge of the history and culture of the Kwanlin Dün people and family structures, including historic and current relationships with the formal justice and child welfare systems, including the Territorial Government, Child and Family Services is necessary for success.

Note: An equivalent combination of formal post-secondary education and extensive experience in the above areas will be considered.

Knowledge required for success in the position includes but is not limited to:
· Knowledge and understanding of holistic and alternative processes such as family support circles, mediation, and principle teachings associated with aboriginal culture and heritage. (For example: medicine wheel teachings, traditional parenting)
· Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Peoples history with formal justice and child welfare systems.

Conditions of Employment: Acceptable pre-employment criminal record and vulnerable sector search; Class 5 driver's license, reliable transportation and clean driver's abstract; First Aid and CPR; conflict & dispute resolution workshops (or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment).

Job Requirements: As an essential service with the Nation, the incumbent must be willing to work irregular shifts, including weekends and holidays, and respond to after hour emergencies on a rotational basis.

Salary: $68,286.40 - $85,485.40 per annum (Level 6) plus benefits
