Full Time Permanent position
Starting July 2018
Compensation: $42,000 to $48,000 Annually

Coast High Country Inn is currently seeking to fill a Banquet Manager position. This position is a key role to banquet events. They lead the team by example in providing excellent customer service during catered events at Coast High Country Inn catered function venues. The position requires an individual with a strong sense of leadership, teamwork, and enthusiasm to oversee the event from beginning to end in order to make every banquet event a success!

General Summary:
As the Banquet Manager, you are part of the Sales Department who is responsible for promoting our services and products while selling to new and existing clientele. Coast High Country Inn is host to many social events, conferences and meetings. As part of our mission, people-centric and performance minded, we pride ourselves in supporting, encouraging and coaching our fellow team members to provide outstanding guest care and satisfaction.
This position directs and motivates the banquet team, while personally assisting in providing high quality service based on requirements and standards. Monitors and controls financial and administrative responsibilities. Provides clear and concise communications to everyone having ownership in the success of the event. Identifies training opportunities and plans a strategy to accomplish goals.

This position reports to Catering & Conference Services Manager.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Managing Banquet Operations

• Assisting in banquet menu planning and pricing
• Consistent Check on banquet food and beverage quality, banquet services and plate presentation.
• Projects supply needs for the department, (e.g., china, glass, silver, buffet presentations, props).
• Applies knowledge of all laws, as they relate to an event.
• Understands the impact of Banquet operations on the overall success of an event and manages activities to maximize customer satisfaction.
• Adheres to and reinforces all standards, policies, and procedures
• Maintains established sanitation levels.
• Manages departmental monthly inventories
• Uses banquet beverage records to control liquor costs and manage the banquet beverage perpetual inventory.
• Schedules banquet service staff to forecast and service standards, while maximizing profits.
• Assists team in developing lasting relationships with groups to retain business and increase growth.

Leading Banquet Teams
• Supervise and coordinate daily operation of meeting/banquet set-ups and service with banquet captains. Sets goals and delegates tasks to improve departmental performance.
• Conducts monthly department meetings with the Banquet team.
• Applies and continually broadens knowledge of food and wine pairings and cutting-edge cuisine with emphasis on current event trends.
• Acts as a liaison to the kitchen staff.
• Leads shifts and actively participates in the servicing of events.
Ensuring and Providing Exceptional Customer Service
• Sets a positive example for guest relations.
• Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
• Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints.
• Empowers associates to provide excellent customer service.
• Ensures associates understand expectations and parameters.
• Strives to improve service performance.
• Emphasizes guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings and focuses on continuous improvement.
• Reviews comment cards and guest satisfaction results with associates.

Conducting Human Resources Activities
• Communicates and executes departmental and property emergency procedures and ensures staff are trained in safety procedures.
• Observes service behaviors of associates and provides feedback to individuals.
• Monitors progress and leads discussion with staff each period.
• Participates in the development and implementation of corrective action plans.

Wedding functions
• Responsible for facilitating, mediating, managing, and executing a wedding on behalf of the client.
• Assist the client in selecting suitable wedding décor, theme and menu while adhering to the clients budget
• Prepare function contracts, secure client signatures and collect deposits as required
• Documenting final details and pertinent information concerning the event in client files and function sheets, including but not limited to, final guest count, day-of timeline, menu selections, linens, room layout, vendor information, and special requests.


• Minimum two years of experience in Food and Beverage Supervisor and/or Management position
• Supervisory/management experience in a banquet facility is an asset
• Post-secondary Degree in Hospitality or Food and Beverage Management an asset
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts
• Must be a highly organized individual with the ability to handle numerous tasks at any one time
• Must have strong, proven leadership qualities and management skills
• Must have proven departmental scheduling and operational productivity
• Must exhibit excellent communication skills
• Working knowledge of Word and Excel
• Food Safe Certification

Requirements: Visa - Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Class 5 Driver's licence
