THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION IS SEEKING SUBSTITUTES FOR TEACHERS IN YUKON SCHOOLS, INCLUDING RURAL COMMUNITIES

• Do you have a passion for helping children learn and grow?
• Would you like to make a difference in the lives of students, school staff and the community?
• Is the idea of working in a variety of school environments exciting for you?
• Would you like to fill in for teachers for short and long periods of time?
• Can you accept work assignments on short notice, if required?

If you answered "yes," we are interested in hearing from you. If you are willing to work in schools in rural communities, we especially want to hear from you.

Vision:
The vision of the Department of Education is for all Yukon people to develop a desire for and appreciation of life-long learning, a strong commitment to their communities and the knowledge and skills to live meaningful, productive and rewarding lives.

Qualifications:
Teacher's certification or university degree is preferred, but not required.

We are looking for people with skills to deliver classroom lessons and educate students, the ability to work as a member of a professional team, the ability to follow instructions from teachers and the principal, the ability to lead positive student interactions and correct inappropriate behavior in a supportive manner, flexibility to adapt to a variety of work environments, an appreciation for the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations students, the ability to support a culturally diverse student population, and to protect the safety of students.

Condition of Employment:
A criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector Search is a condition of employment that must be filled prior to starting work. Please report to your local police detachment to have this check done. Be sure to take two pieces of identification with you.
