EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

Position: Carpenter Apprentice
Department: Community Services
Start Date: ASAP

Kwanlin Dün First Nation is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who wish to be considered to apprentice as a Carpenter.

In order to be considered for this opportunity one must:
· Be a member of Kwanlin Dün First Nation (must declare) and eligible for post-secondary funding with Kwanlin Dün;
· Have completion of grade 10 or equivalent;
· Be eligible for apprenticeship per Yukon Government guidelines, and
· Have a genuine interest and be committed to becoming a carpenter.

Note: Experience in home and building maintenance is an asset.

Job Requirements & conditions of employment:
· Commitment to all levels of apprenticeship;
· To be eligible to, and will register with Yukon College (or another accredited post-secondary institution) in the Carpentry program;
· Attend mandatory coursework at Yukon College (or other);
· Work cooperatively with the Apprentice and Trades staff of Advanced Education Branch at Yukon Government;
· Work under the direction and guidance of the Journeyperson Carpenter (s) on staff;
· Mandatory compliance with KDFN safety policies and procedures;
· Lifting of up to 50 lbs;
· Valid Class 5 Driver's license is required; and
· Must be willing to undergo and have an acceptable criminal records check if requested.

Salary: Pay is at the applicable apprentice training rate; depending on experience and education.
