Standard Hours Bi-Weekly: 75 Full-time
Start date: Immediately
Salary: Level 8 Step 1($81,014)

Reporting to the Land and Resources Manager, the incumbent is responsible for assisting with the implementation of Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in initiatives related to land and resource use, including providing land and resource protection and technical support. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating TH's participation in the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment and related processes. The emphasis of this position is to assess the environmental and socio-cultural impacts of proposed developments or use of TH lands and resources.

Essential Qualifications:

· Undergraduate degree or extensive course-work and experience relating to any of the following disciplines: environmental science, ecology, environmental impact assessment, natural resource management, socio-economic assessment, natural resource planning, indigenous studies or First Nations planning. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered;
· Knowledge of policy and legislation design;
· Ability to review, interpret, evaluate, analyze and synthesize various sources of information, including; case law, precedents, reports, technical data, statistics and traditional knowledge into clear and concise position statements;
· Knowledge of land and resource issues, development activities, legislation and regulations affecting First Nations;
· Ability to understand, interpret, and present documents to persons with a range of understanding;
· Experience using a database, interpreting scientific and socio-economic data and research;
· Knowledge of YESAB/YESSA and other environmental assessment legislation;
· Familiarity with placer mining;
· Familiarity with GIS software.

Assets:

· Course-work and experience in GIS and digital mapping;
· Knowledge of Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in Government structure, cultures, traditions and values;
