11- Aug 31: 37.5 hours per week)

Reporting to the Hän Language Administrator, this position is responsible for learning and speaking the Hän language, the ancestral language in the Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in Traditional Territory. This position will continually build proficiency and learn methods in the Hän Language to use and share in the community, day care, and school to encourage others to participate in the use of the Hän language. This is a training position to learn about the Hän language and requires a commitment to use the Hän language on a daily basis, a commitment to be self-motivated, and seek training both in and out of the community.

SKILLS TO BE GAINED:
· Opportunity to learn the Han Language;
· Ability to use various methods to use and share the language in the community, daycare and school;
· Research skills to search out new ideas for learning the language;
· Use of film-making equipment, editing software, and uploading techniques to make short films using the Han Language;
· Experience working on specific language revitalization projects;
· Will acquire some computer software training in database development.

Essentials:
· Must be in Grades 9 to 12;
· Knowledge of Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in history, culture, and language;
· Some experience using a computer and related software;
· Have some experience in public speaking;
· Some familiarity with the Hän Language and other Yukon First Nations languages;
· Willingness to continue learning through personal and professional development opportunities in and out of the community;
· A commitment to complete further training in a language proficiency program or pursue a career in language revitalization, linguistics, and/or teaching;
· A commitment to learning proficiency in speaking the Han Language, and sign a "can-do" statement to signify the dedication to learning and speaking the language;
· A commitment to use Hän language communication on a daily basis;
· A commitment to be self-motivated to seek 'own' training for learning and speaking the language in the community;
· Ability to work independently with some guidance for specific language revitalization projects;
· Good listening and communication skills, both verbal and written;
· Ability to maintain confidentiality;
· Ability to foster unity and trust among Tr'ondek Hwech'in leadership, staff, and citizenship;
· Ability to work with individuals with varying levels of communication skills and physical abilities.

Assets:
· MS word, PowerPoint;
· Internet;
· Related work experience.

Conditions of Employment:
