Senior Advisor – 2 Year Term (with possibility of extension)

Standard Hours Bi-Weekly: 75
Start Date: Immediately
Salary: Level 11 ($105,793)

Reporting to the Chief of the Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in (TH), this senior strategic position liaises with leadership and the administration
and provides advice to ensure effective governance. The Senior Advisor provides advice on political and high level administrative
issues and is responsible for leading the development of strategic plans, and inter-governmental protocol, as appropriate.
The Senior Advisor provides strategic planning advice and approaches to intergovernmental meetings. The position provides
expertise and advice on Modern Treaty implementation, legislation, administrative and policy related issues.
The Senior Advisor supports the delivery of a coordinated strategy for TH Government and leadership. The position works to
deliver strategy and achieve the operational mandate through the management of complex projects involving a wide variety of
issues.

Essential Qualifications:
· Post-secondary degree in a relevant field (law, political science, business and administration) and/or combined experience, training and education working with governments at a senior, executive, or leadership level;
· Experience providing political advice to senior officials and leaders from Indigenous or provincial and/or territorial governments;
· Formal knowledge/experience working within First Nation governance structures and processes;
· Knowledge of modern land claims and treaties;
· Strong analytical, project management and proposal writing skills;
· Excellent communication skills (writing, visual, oral) including presentations;
· Ability to put political direction into action;
· Planning, organizing, goal setting and/or work-plans as well as finance and budgeting skills;
· Ability to direct, develop, implement and evaluate programs, policies, and procedures.
· Problem solving, risk identification and mitigation skills.
· Excellent leadership and decision-making skills.
· Proven ability to work independently, with minimum supervision and within a team.

Assets:
· Experience building intergovernmental relationships;
· Knowledge of the values, traditions and culture of the Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in;
· Knowledge of the Umbrella Final Agreement, Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in Final and Self Government Agreements.

Conditions of Employment:
· Criminal Record Check.
· Attendance at General Assemblies, and Community Meetings as required.
· Willingness to travel as required.
