Job Description/Duties:

Job Specific skills:
Basic Customer Service Skills:
• Greet customers, help them find what they are looking for, discuss different options of merchandise, discuss different storage and vehicle rental options, ensure the customers are satisfied
Front Reception Duties:
• Open and Close the office without any supervision
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word
• Accept cash, cheques, credit cards or automatic debit payment
• Respond to telephone, in person or electronic enquiries to the best of their ability or forward inquiries to appropriate employee.
• Sort and file documents regularly to established filing systems
• Process incoming and outgoing mail
• Send and receive messages and documents using facsimile
• Phone/E-mail/Mail customers with rent due reminders
• Invoice selected customers monthly
• Perform basic bookkeeping tasks such as; preparing invoices, weekly bank deposits, balancing
• the cash flow on a weekly basis
• Maintain and understand the PIN system for customer's access to the storage facilities
• Maintain and understand the FOB system for customer's access to the heated building
• Basic problem solving to ensure the customer receives the service they want

Vehicle/Storage Rental Duties:
• Estimate or quote prices for storage unit and rental vehicles
• Create storage or vehicle rental contracts
• Able to sell insurance to storage rental customers and SafeMov coverage to U-haul customers
• Apply discounts and promotions to storage units
• Transfer customers to a different storage unit and add multiple units to a customer's account
• Keep all paperwork and magnetic boards up to date daily when customers move in/out of units
• Provide customers access to the storage facilities with a valid PIN number or FOB
• Able to manoeuver rental vehicles in all sizes; 10', 15', 20' and 26' lengths. This includes backing into parking stalls
• Check in and Check U-haul customers out; this includes dealing with any blankets, dollies or debris left in the vehicles
• Filling up the washer fluid and oil in the rental vehicles
• Drive vehicles to a car wash location and clean the outside of the vehicles
• Clean the interior of U-haul vehicles when needed
• Able to double lock units and complete compound checks (sweeping units) when needed at all five facilities
• Physically able to lift 50 lbs, push/pull boxes, and stand for extended periods of time

Office Janitorial Duties:
• Sort and drop-off recycling and garbage weekly
• Vacuum and mop the office area weekly
• Clean the bathrooms and common areas (Elevator) bi-weekly
• Keep the office area neat and tidy and welcoming to the customers
• Shovel snow in front of office entrance and enough for one parking stall when snow falls

Personal Suitability:
• Flexibility, team player, excellent oral communication, reliability, organized


• Language: Bilingual (English / German) is essential
• Education: Minimum graduated from high school
• Experience: 1 year of renting vehicles and working as a receptionist
• Transportation: Candidate must have a vehicle and a valid class 5 driver's license
• Health: Must pass all required drug testing
