Teslin Tlingit Council is inviting resumes for Finance Director

This is a permanent full time position

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer the Director of Finance is responsible for planning, managing, developing and controlling the financial resources for Teslin Tlingit Council. Implementing and monitoring financial control systems and upgrading changes to as necessary. Coordinating annual audit requirements, special projects, administration of contrition agreements, funding agreements and investment portfolios. Managing the process of budget preparation and forecasting, providing financial expertise to Management Board, Executive Council, General Council, Directors, Managers, and staff on budget variances and financial procedures. Participants in corporate strategic planning and policy development for Teslin Tlingit Council.

Education & Experience
  • Grade 12 supplemented with an accounting designation or degree in Public or Business Administration with a specialization in finance or accounting;
  • Proven financial management and supervisory experience
  • Knowledge and ability to use computerized accounting systems and software
  • Supervisory skills

Main Duties
  • Assisting Chief and Council and Directors in financial management services, operational and work planning forecasts, budget allocations, budget variances, financial statements and reports to ensure that financial operations comply with legislation including taxation legislation and regulations, policies and accounting principles (government, trust and corporate accounting principles and practices)
  • Participates with other Directors and staff in strategic planning exercises
  • Assisting Directors and Managers with the development of annual forecasts and budgets and analyzing and preparing financial reports for review by Management Board and Executive Council
  • Planning, developing, organizing and establishing a process for the analysis of financial information and statistical data on TTC and Trust activities and projects and developing productivity measures to evaluate and asses the success or failures of trends that may be developing
  • leading the coordination of the annual audit process
