Salary: Level 6 Step 1 ($37.21 hourly)

Reporting to the Events & Consultations Coordinator and the Health Programs & Services Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the preparation, delivery, and administrative functions of the Meals on Wheels and the Community Luncheon programs, well as other Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in (TH) events and functions. The main responsibilities of the position are supervising multiple auxiliary on call Cooks and Cook’s Helpers, menu planning, managing food orders, coordinating food deliveries in the community, overseeing weekly menu plans, and overseeing the preparation of nutritious meals for TH events and consultation activities. Meals on Wheels (MOW) and the Community Luncheon are 3 times per week (Mon, Wed, Fri) for identified citizens and community members. The position is responsible for healthy menu planning that incorporates and considers traditional perpetration methods and foods, as per the Northern Canada Food Guide.

An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:
  •  Minimum of grade 12 or equivalent with course work in culinary arts or related program.
  •  Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.
  •  Experience working within a designated budget.
  •  Knowledge in preparation of traditional foods.
  •  Food safety courses or willingness to obtain.
  •  Knowledge and understanding of Northern Canada Food Guide.
  •  Organizational and time management skills.

Assets:
  •  Ability to meet deadlines.
  •  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients.

Conditions of Employment:
  •  Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  •  Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with clear driver’s abstract.
  •  Standard First Aid, or willingness to obtain.
  •  Food Safe, or willingness to obtain.
  •  Willingness to get and maintain medical clearance, annual flu shots and TB testing.
