• The Assistant Baker works with the Head Baker daily. The Assistant Baker will become the Head Baker when the Head Baker is away on holidays and assume the Head Baker’s responsibilities. The Assistant Baker will also cover for the Food Services Manager at the Hot Rock Café when she is on holidays or away.
• Baking and decorating cakes, cookies, and other baked items
• Making soups, salads, and sandwiches
• Washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen. Light cleaning of the floors of the kitchen facility.
• Various physical tasks at the kitchen facility (bringing in wood, shoveling snow, cleaning outhouse, cleaning ashes from the chimney etc.)
• Delivery between kitchen and the Hot Rock Café
• Serving food and drinks to the public at the Hot Rock Café
• Helping with maintaining cleanliness of the café
• Accepting and handling cash and card payments
• Restocking shelves, changing beer kegs
• Picking up supplies in Whitehorse twice per week
• Preparing online food supplies orders if necessary
• Maintaining temperature logs of fridges and freezers, ensuring equipment is maintained and sanitized correctly according to Public Health requirements

• Comfortable standing for entirety of your shift
• Must own a personal cell phone or be willing to carry a work cell phone.
• Must have own reliable means of transportation that isn’t shared with others and have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs
• Possess First Aid training or be willing to acquire it
• Possess Food Safe training or willing to acquire it
• Possess WHMIS training or willing to acquire it
• Preference will be given to those with a culinary degree or certificate, Red Seal or equivalent experience
• Excellent customer service skills
