Salary: Level 3 Step 1 ($2,092.85 bi-weekly)

Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator, this position is responsible for the oversight, maintenance and care of Moosehide Village, and for boat operator duties between Dawson City and this heritage site which has no road access. This position is seasonal recall, with the incumbent expected to work full-time between May and September of each year. The primary duties of the position include site care and maintenance, boat shuttle operations, equipment readiness and control, liaison with work crews, staff and TH citizens, orientation and tour information for visitors / tourists and for assisting TH Departments special events, programs, projects and gatherings at Moosehide.

An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Completion of Grade 10. An equivalent combination of education, knowledge, skills and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in performing basic repairs, renovations and building maintenance tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of small engine maintenance and repairs.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability to safely operate a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of hazards and safe work practices.
  • Experience in dealing with the public in a host capacity.
  • Basic knowledge of National and Yukon Building Codes or a willingness to learn.
  • Small Vessel (Boat) Operator’s License.

Assets:
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to assess projects for material needed to coordinate small equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • Ability to receive and follow verbal direction and instruction.
  • Demonstrate good work ethics, be reliable and self-motivated.
  • Ability to be flexible.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Class 5 driver’s license with a clear driver’s abstract.
  • Remote First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Boat Safety Course / Operator’s License and Boat Operation Experience.
  • Training / experience in ATV Operation.
  • Bear Aware / Safety Training, or willing to take.
