Salary: Level 2-5 Step 1 ($25,42 - $37.18 hourly; dependent on YG Childcare Level Designation)

Reporting to the Daycamp Supervisor and Director of Tr’inke Zho, this position is responsible for the supervision of children ages six to twelve years old. The position is responsible for carrying out the summer Daycamp program to meet the individual needs of the children in this section and ensuring YG regulations are followed at all times. This position works in close partnership with other Summer Daycamp Leader team members and Youth Student Leader(s).

An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:
  •  Experience working with school-age children ages 6-12 in a summer camp, Early Childhood, outdoor education program, afterschool program or related setting.
  •  Post-secondary Certificate/ Diploma in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
  •  Experience working in a team environment.
  •  Experience or Knowledge in working with First Nation children and families.
  •  Knowledge of YG Child Care regulations.
  •  Ability to maintain and communicate the importance of strict confidentiality.
  •  Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with families, youth, and children.

Conditions of Employment:
  •  Criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  •  Medical clearance, TB test and open immunization record.
  •  Standard First Aid Certification and CPR.
  •  Class 5 Driver’s license with clear drivers’ abstract is an asset.
